Winter is the predominant season at the ranch. This is due to the ranch’s elevation. The winter season usually starts
in November and winter starts to lets loose its icy grip in May. Average winter snowfall total is over 300 inches. The
winter of 2007/2008 produced a record snowfall amount over 500 inches. Keeping the highway open to the ranch is a difficult
task for the
Spring is a short season at this elevation. While springtime temperatures can start in April, snowstorms can continue through the end of May. The arrival of spring is marked by and explosion of green vegetation everywhere.
Summer begins in late June and lasts until early September. Nights are cool and daytime
temps are comfortable.
Fall is marked by the spectacular change in color of the mountain Aspens. These trees that
display an almost day-glow green in the spring and early summer change to varying hues of yellow, orange, gold, and reds in the fall. The peak of this event usually lasts for a week. However, pinpointing this peak varies from year to year depending on the summer’s
climate and how soon and dramatically traditional fall temperatures arrive.
